Each and every week, 93% of Australians head to work, so it’s no surprise that to be the best and healthiest version of ourselves we need to implement healthy habits at work. For some workplaces, however, there are often unhealthy temptations offered that make it hard to stick to the best of routines.
At Hero HQ, we want all Australian workers to be at their healthy best, so we’ve come up with some of our favourite tips for changing your unhealthy workplace habits into healthy ones!
Being an active member of the Australian workforce means that you primarily live in a share-house with other employees for the majority of the week. So it’s super important to practise good hygiene to prevent the spread of germs and illness as sick days cost the Australian economy over $34.1 billion every year (yikes!).
Here are a couple of rules you should follow on day to day basis:
Sneeze into your elbow, not your hand. Germs are spread quickest by hand, so if you sneeze and then touch a door handle, any germs you may be carrying will most likely transfer to the next person who touches it. This is super important during cold and flu season.
Use hand sanitiser! This is the quickest way to stop the spread of germs between people.
Clean up after yourself - if you use a dish in your office kitchen, wash it or place it in the dishwasher and put it away once clean. If you’re working on a site and need to move locations, clean up your tools and take them with you. Treat your workplace like you would your own home!
If you’re sick, please stay at home. Not only will this prevent the spread of illness in the workplace but it will ensure that you’re at your productive best.
