Fire Warden Training dives into the skills needed to spring into action during workplace emergencies.

Whether it's following emergency procedures set by your organisation or taking commands from higher-ups in the emergency control team, you'll be confident to be a leader in a workplace emergency. From fires to medical crises, this unit prepares you for any situation, drawing from the extensive scope outlined in Australian Standard 3745-2010.

Your team will learn how to:

  • Understand the command, control, and coordination functions of the emergency control organisations.
  • Know about communication systems, emergency signals, and evacuation procedures.
  • Be familiar with facility documentation and hazard identification.
  • Understand relevant legislation, standards, and regulations.
  • Recognise means of identification and know emergency accounting methods.
  • Understand first aid utilising procedures and emergency precautions.
  • Know WHS/OHS requirements and safe work practices.

They will practice:

  • Applying WHS/OHS requirements and implementing safe work practices.
  • Assist occupants during emergencies and in post-emergency activities.
  • Comply with relevant legislation, standards, and regulations.
  • Contribute to facility emergency planning and undertake pre-emergency planning.
  • Give clear directions to occupants and visitors.
  • Initiate and control an initial emergency response, responding to signals and warnings.
  • Take a leadership role or act as a deputy within the emergency control organisation.
  • Use communication systems and wear the required identification.
